Flexible Array Data Archiving Requirements

All USArray Flexible Array Experiments must conform to the Flexible Array Data Policy and archive their data with the IRIS DMC. Archiving of Flexible Array data is a share responsibility between the Principal Investigator (PI) and the IRIS PASSCAL  Instrument Center. Although the archiving process differs for the various types of Flexible Array experiments (realtime passive, standalone passive, controlled source), the shared responsibilities are similar and are summarized below:

Data Archiving Responsibilities

Controlled Source Experiments

Passive Experiments

PASSCAL Responsibilities
  1. Provide raw data to PI
  2. Archive raw data with DMC
  1. Archive raw data with DMC
  2. Provide an Antelope database to the PI where appropriate.
 Principal Investigator(s) Responsibilities
  1.  Acquire, reduce and QC metadata.
  2. Provide meta-data in machine readable, tab-delimited format to the PIC.
  3. Furnish the data report as describe in Flexible Array Data Policy.
  1. Provide raw data to the PIC after each service run.
  2. Acquire, reduce and QC metadata.
  3. Provide meta-data in machine readable, tab-delimited format to the PIC.
 Shared Responsibilities
  1. Prior to the field campaign PI and the PIC will agree on parameters (e.g. trace length, gather format etc.) of SEGY data that will be archived with DMC.
  2. Construct, verify, and archive gathers with the DMC.
