Flexible Array Information for the PIApril 7 , 2008 The Flexible Array is a pool of instruments that are available to PIs for individual PI-driven research projects associated with the goals of EarthScope. This pool of instruments is housed at the PASSCAL Instrument Center located at New Mexico Tech in Socorro, NM. Experiments using these instruments are funded by the EarthScope panel at the NSF. All PIs who want to request the use of Flex Array instruments must fill in an Instrument Request Form. This should be done upon submission of a proposal the panel. The instruments for the Flex Array are being purchased as part of the EarthScope Major Research Equipment and Facilities Construction (MREFC) Account. The MREFC funding is spread over 5 years. The number of instruments available is given below:
Broadband Station: A broadband station consists of a Guralp CMG-3T sensor and a Refraction Technology RT-130 3-channel data logger. Short Period Station: A short period station consists of a 1-Hz sensor (CMG 40T-1Hz) and a Refraction Technology RT-130 3-channel data logger. Active Source Station: An active source station consist of either a 4.5 Hz or a 40 Hz vertical component geophone and a Refraction Technology RT-125 (Texan) single-channel datalogger.
