PASSCAL Active Source Data Archive Formats

The goal of the data archive format is to provide users with all of the basic data and ancillary information necessary to process and interpret the waveform data. Therefore, we request that all PIs who submit data do so according to the standards outlined below.

As a minimum, all seismic waveforms should be submitted as shot gathers in SEGY format. Additional stages of data reduction may be included if deemed appropriate by the PI (e.g., a final stack profile). All appropriate header values should be filled in accurately according to the SEGY standard. As an alternative, a PI may elect to use the IASPEI version of the SEGY format for long-offset and refraction data.

A summary report that contains all of the appropriate ancillary data should accompany the waveform data. This ancillary data should include such things as:

If possible, the data report should be submitted in electronic form with the PDF format being preferred. Copies of field notes or observer reports ("OB sheets") if available.?
