Descr: We are studying the seismology of geothermally active regions in various places around the world. The purpose of tis work is to explore the underlying physical processes controlling their occurrence and evolution, and the nature of their earthquake and geodetic activity. We are currently studying several sites in the Keny Rift region where we have the opportunity to guide the drilling of geothermal exploration wells based on seismic results. The drilling will provide direct subsurface measurements of the factors controlling the seismicity and wave propagation effects seen in the predrilling data.
