Descr: The experiment is aimed at imaginig the upper mantle structure beneath the 1.1 billion years old Mid-Continental rift by using seismc tomography, shear wave splitting, seismic wave attenuation, and converted waves. The data will also be used to detect small earthquakes associated with active faults in the study area, where large earthquakes with MMI 7 or 8 have occurred during the past 135 years.
