Descr: This project will test the hypothesis that the cross-correlation of recordings of ambient seismic noise can produce a 3D seismic image comparable to that produced by an active-source survey. This method is called Seismic Daylight Imaging (SDI) We will test this hypothesis by deploying 360 channels in a square array with a receiver spacing of 5m. A REFTEK DAS will be used to trigger 6 NX/RX-60 recorders to record concurrently at 250 Hz for 64 seconds. Recording as many of the 64-second time slices is paramount to SDIÕs success, so we will record 2 cycles, or ~9.2 hours of data each day for 10 days. The next three days will consist of an active experiment to produce an active 3D image for comparison to the passive image.
