Descr: Our goal is to detect the source processes of iceberg-generated seismicity (typically a 2-10 Hz tremor) that is picked up as T-phase in the South Pacific. Our main effort is to deploy broad band seismometers on actual icebergs in the Ross Sea. A secondary goal is to determine the response of icebergs (e.g., excitation of bobbing and pitching modes) to seismic events elsewhere, e.g., surface waves from distant earthquakes setting icebergs into bobbing motions.
