Descr: This project is designed to place 20 3-C intermediate-period instruments within a radius of 40 km of Colima volcano. Few, if any, instruments will be placed on the volcano itself. The experiment is in cooperation with the funded "MARS" broadband deployment of Grand and Ni in early 2006. The purpose is to examine the deep crustal root of a subduction volcano. Principle questions are 1) How are arc volcanoes fed from the mantle? and 2) Where do subduction basalts in the mantle evolve into the silicic volcanics observed on the surface? The project will make use of teleseismic and local body waves.
