Descr: As part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary project aimed at understanding the dynamics of the Hellenic subduction system, we propose the deployment of two dense arrays of three-component, broadband seismometers to the north and south of the Central Hellenic Shear Zone (Greece). Our rationale for two lines in to image the contrasting morphologies of the slab in the distinct southern and northern regimes of the Hellenic subduction system. The total duration of the experiment will be 3 years, consisting of two deployments of 1.5 years each for the southern and northern line. Each line will comprise 40 stations with an average station spacing on 7.5 km. The duration and density of the two arrays will allow us to use high-resolution imaging techniques based on the inversion of teleseismic scattered waves, and to obtain unparalleled structural detail of the Hellenic subduction system.
