Descr: We are installing an 8-station borehole array in the Puna district, southeast Hawaii. Due to its location along the Kilauea southeast rift zone, this area may be affected by significant seismic and volcanic hazard. Hazards include both lava flows and movement along a large, southeast dipping fault. This fault has spawned a fracture zone of smaller faults; our goal is to use shear wave splitting and tomographic results to image the fracture zone. We are working in collaboration with the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, so that the data set will include both surface and borehole data. Please refer to Marcos Alvarez, who is aware of the circumstances of the project.
