MOCCONE (MC2)

Up in the Sila Grande of Calábria is the town of Moccone.  It is a resort town.  There is skiing in the winter and it is probably a cool place to come to in the summer -- to get away from the heat, that is.

The town was not small, but it was empty.  There were a lot of houses and buildings that I suspected were probably teeming with humans during the summer months and on weekends.

Dr. Guerra had a summer house in Moccone that he rented as a weekend getaway along with some other families.

Around the back of the house was a utility room where Dr. Guerra had a station that he was going to remove.  We cleaned out one corner of the room and installed our station as a replacement.

The solar panel was left attached to the door of the room.  It was able to catch enough sunshine when we installed it, but it will probably need to be moved as the sun gets higher in the sky towards the summer months.

Once the station was in we started looking for other prospective sites while we still had sunlight.

We finished up scouting for the day in the small town of Germano.

We talked to one of the locals, ok, Nano, Dr. Guerra, and Anna talked to one of the locals.  I just stood there and shook my head like I understood what was being said.  Anyway, we did not come up with a place to put a station in Germano, but the building that we parked next to gave us an idea.  It was owned by the Corpo Forestale Dello Stato, or essentially, the forestry department of Italy.  You will see them again later.
