WHERE I WORK

2002JAN31

In July 2000 I went to work at the IRIS/PASSCAL Instrument Center on the New Mexico Tech campus in Socorro, New Mexico.  IRIS, Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology, is a consortium of about 97 colleges, universities and research institutions.  PASSCAL, the Program for Array Seismic Studies of the Continental Lithosphere Instrument Center provides portable seismic monitoring equipment, and software to process the data collected, for geophysicists to use in experiments around the world.  All of the equipment is owned by the U.S. Government, and the whole program is funded through the National Science Foundation.

Above is a picture of the instrument center taken on June 24, 2002 at about noon.  The haze was the smoke from the forest fires that were about to devour Show Low, Arizona which is about 250 miles west of Socorro.

More on the PASSCAL Instrument Center is here.

Below is a list of projects that I have been involved with.  The explanations are not too terribly technical in nature since they are mostly here just to let my mom know what I do for a living:

The most infrequently updated web cam on the Internet is here.

Since something about this page should actually be related to real work a link to my documentation is here.
