Data Loggers

3-Channel Dataloggers

Quanterra Q330

Q330's are typically used for broadband standalone and telemetered real-time data recording. They have an external storage device (either hard drive or USB flash drive) and lend themselves for a variety of telemetered modes.

Reftek RT130

Quanterra Q330

The Q330 is a 3 or 6 channel high resolution datalogger. It is low power and highly configurable for a wide range of applications and sensors. The Q330 is housed in a sealed aluminum enclosure which makes it highly resistant to the environment. Telemetry is a main focus of the Q330, but it also has a robust on-site data storage system which uses external Balers. This makes it easy to swap out the data storage on-site for when servicing doesn't allow an extended visit. The Q330 can write data to four different receiving systems simultaneously. It also has built-in sensor controls, an automatic mass recentering feature, and calibration functions. The Q330 is programmed with a Windows program called Willard, it can also be controlled by a PalmOS program for when working in the field.

Features:

RefTek RT 130 Datalogger

The RT130 is a 3 or 6 channel high resolution datalogger. It is low power and highly configurable for a wide range of applications and sensors. It is housed in a plastic clamshell-style enclosure which is nearly waterproof and has internal data storage in the form of two compact flash cards. The RT130 can simultaneously record to the CF cards and transmit data in near-realtime using either ethernet or serial based telemetry. It has built-in sensor controls, scheduled mass recentering, and calibration functions. The RT130 is programmed with a PalmOS program called PFC-130 via the serial port.

Features:

1-Channel (Texan) Dataloggers

The RT125A, or texan, is a compact single channel datalogger with a self contained power supply (two D-cell batteries). Its primary application is for active source experiments.

When recording continuously at 100 sps, the battery life is approximately 120 hours. Higher sample rates will shorten the battery life and may fill up internal memory before the battery dies.

Features:

Single channel, 24 bit ADC Physical size: 3.0" diameter, 7.7" length Power source: two D-cell alkaline batteries Sample rate: 25 to 1000 sps Storage capacity: 256MB or 512MB

Instrumentation

Instrumentation to support portable seismology available from IRIS facilities:

Dataloggers - This section encompasses the equipment which take in data and stores it on some type of non-volatile media.

Power Systems - All the required equipment to keep a seismic station contiously powered throughout it's deployment.

Sensors - The equipment that actually detects and quantifies ground motion. The sensor sends this information to the datalogger through a cable.
