Batteries
Batteries are PI Supplied.
Batteries come in two main types, primary which are single use and secondary which are rechargeable.
| Primary Batteries | |||
| Type | Voltage | Capacity | Notes |
| D Cell (alkaline) | 1.6 V | 12 Ah | |
| Zinc Air Cell | 1.5 V | up to 600 Ah | Capacity dependent on cell size, poor cold performance |
|
Primary Lithium DD Cell |
3.6 V | 36 Ah | Poor at handling current surges |
| Rechargeable Batteries | |||
| Type | Voltage | Capacity | Notes |
| Lead-Acid | 12.0 V | 180W/kg | Never use unsealed batteries |
| NiCd | 1.2 V | 150W/kg | |
| Lithium-ion | 3.6 V | 300W/kg | Poor at handling current surges |
