An IRIS PASSCAL workshop was offered prior to the 2015 AGU Fall meeting in San Francisco. This workshop covered the topics of SEED data archiving using Antelope, instrument responses and what they mean, and active-source data with PH5 in the field and from your desktop. It also served as an opportunity to help PIs and archivers familiarize themselves with the PASSCAL Data Group and the support they provide, and the software utilized in the archival process.
In the morning we outlined best practices for archiving PASSCAL SEED datasets in order to aid PIs and archivers in efficiently transforming raw data and metadata into an archivable format. In the afternoon, we explained the main parts of instrument responses as well as touch upon the theory and how responses are generated. We also discussed PH5 for active-source data archiving along with the in-field tools for viewing and web-based request tools for downloading SEGY and SAC format.
*From the original post* New PASSCAL users, and those who simply wish for a refresher course, are especially encouraged to attend this one-day workshop. Morning session participants will be required to supply a Mac or Linux laptop and should have a basic working knowledge of UNIX structure and commands. Questions regarding the workshop should be directed to data_group [at] passcal [dot] nmt [dot] edu.
This free workshop is offered by staff at the IRIS PASSCAL Instrument Center along with a special guest lecture by IRIS DMC employee Mary Templeton.
Please note that space is limited for each session. In the event that our limits are exceeded, priority will be given to participants with current or upcoming IRIS PASSCAL experiments.

- Archiving data - what needs to be archived and Antelope as a tool to generate data in the required format
